Background
Founded in 1967, Sheridan has grown from a local college of 400 students to one of Ontario’s leading postsecondary institutions, educating approximately 22,500 full-time studies students every year on three campuses in three Ontario cities – Oakville, Brampton, and Mississauga. An award-winning institution, Sheridan attracts students from across Canada and around the world. Sheridan’s 175,000 alumni play a critical role in shaping the future of society in the fields of arts, business, community service, health, technology, and the skilled trades.
Located in the lakeside city of Oakville, just west of Toronto, the Trafalgar Campus is home to more than 9,500 students. This liberal, creative, and artistic campus offers programs in animation, arts and design, advanced film and television, music theatre, business, community studies, liberal arts, applied science and technology, and more. Trafalgar is home to the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design, which is Canada’s largest arts school with more than 6,000 students. The on-campus gallery is a showcase for student and faculty work, while the hallways boast a constantly renewed exhibition of student creativity. Theatre Sheridan, with two performance theatres, stages several acclaimed productions every year. The campus is also home to the Canadian Music Theatre Project, an incubator for new musicals, which earned renown as the starting point for the highly successful Broadway musical Come From Away.
